Why Term Limits?

Revolutionary War Committee meetingHave you ever com­plained about how our gov­ern­ment is run­ning this coun­try? If you are like most Amer­i­cans, it is some­thing that you do on a reg­u­lar basis. We com­plain over an over again, but we fail to do any­thing about it. Term Lim­its will change that. With all the reck­less gov­ern­ment spend­ing and end­less cor­rup­tion that con­tin­ues year after year, it is time that we as Amer­i­cans, stand up and take our coun­try back. We must now fol­low the instruc­tions that were given to us by our found­ing fathers in the Dec­la­ra­tion of Independence;

“Gov­ern­ments are insti­tuted among Men, deriv­ing their just pow­ers from the con­sent of the gov­erned, — That when­ever any Form of Gov­ern­ment becomes destruc­tive of these ends, it is the Right of the Peo­ple to alter or to abol­ish it, and to insti­tute new Gov­ern­ment”. — “it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Gov­ern­ment, and to pro­vide new guards for their future security.”

So, what does this mean to us today? Our found­ing fathers were telling us that when our gov­ern­ment becomes cor­rupt, non rep­re­sen­ta­tive, and is no longer doing the will of its peo­ple, it is not only our right; it is OUR DUTY to remove this gov­ern­ment and to replace it with a gov­ern­ment that will bet­ter serve it’s peo­ple. Along with these instruc­tions, they also gave us the tool to do exactly that.

This tool that they gave us is the Right to Vote!

Our politi­cians and elected offi­cials have done as they pleased for many years with no fear of reper­cus­sion by the Amer­i­can peo­ple. With no Term Lim­its being placed upon them they act and behave as if they are above the laws of this land. Instead of doing the will of the peo­ple, they have acted to fur­ther their per­sonal goals, the goals of their sup­port­ers, and the goals of their friends, fam­ily, and col­leagues. They reck­lessly spend our tax dol­lars to ben­e­fit those indi­vid­u­als, busi­nesses and orga­ni­za­tions which sup­port their elec­tion cam­paigns and polit­i­cal agen­das by pro­vid­ing them favor­able leg­is­la­tion behind closed doors. As a result of this leg­is­la­tion that they enact on the behalf of oth­ers, they in turn receive unjust rewards for them­selves, their friends, and their fam­i­lies and have become very wealthy at the expense of the Amer­i­can taxpayer.

By us allow­ing for our politi­cians to remain in office for so many years, we have also allowed for a breed­ing ground of cor­rup­tion. From Wash­ing­ton, to our cities, small towns and  the com­mu­ni­ties in which we live, this can­cer that we have ignored for far too long is destroy­ing our coun­try. It is now time for all Amer­i­cans to unite and to use our right to vote as our found­ing fathers had intended for us to do. We were given this right so that we may pre­vent our gov­ern­ing bod­ies from once again acquir­ing a tyran­ni­cal con­trol over the Peo­ple of this great nation. Remem­ber, our gov­ern­ment was given it’s author­ity by the Peo­ple; but it was not given this author­ity with­out lim­i­ta­tions. Unlike the gov­ern­ment that we see in our nation today it was cre­ated with cer­tain lim­ited respon­si­bil­i­ties and author­ity. It was not intended to have com­plete author­ity over the lives of the Peo­ple of the United States of Amer­ica. The laws gov­ern­ing over the peo­ple was reserved for the States in which one lived and not for the fed­eral government.

What­ever hap­pened to us?

We could spend days, weeks, months and even years try­ing to fig­ure out how this has hap­pened to us and who is to blame for our trou­bles. There is plenty of blame to go around but this is a waste of time and energy and it will not change our coun­try for the bet­ter. What we need to do is to decide what we as Amer­i­cans can do about it right now!

We must enforce Term Lim­its!
— and we must do so Now!

Term Lim­its has the abil­ity to be the most effec­tive tool that we have to remove the cor­rup­tion in our gov­ern­ment quickly and eas­ily. We can­not and must not wait for leg­is­la­tors to enact leg­is­la­tion that would man­date such Term Lim­its upon them­selves. It is our duty as Amer­i­cans to do this our­selves! So, with this in mind, remem­ber this quote from Thomas Jefferson;

We shall pro­tect our god given lib­er­ties and put the fear of the “Peo­ple” back into our gov­ern­ment by enforc­ing a One Term Limit upon on all of our elected offi­cials across our great nation. From this day for­ward, let us not re-elect any politi­cian, rep­re­sen­ta­tive, offi­cial, or leader to serve another term in office. This action on the part of the peo­ple shall reshape the polit­i­cal land­scape in Amer­ica for many years to come. It will steadily remove the exist­ing cor­rup­tion that dis­graces Amer­ica today, and it will send a strong mes­sage to oth­ers that the Peo­ple of the United States of Amer­ica will tol­er­ate this behav­ior no longer.

It is time for Amer­ica to stand up and Take our Coun­try back! — Come ― Join us today! — Please read and sign  “The Dec­la­ra­tion of the Peo­ple of the United States of Amer­ica” and then begin to help Take Amer­ica Back by “print­ing 10 copies” of the “Dec­la­ra­tion” and pass­ing them out to your friends, rel­a­tives and acquain­tances. Inform them of our efforts to enforce Term Lim­its upon our elected offi­cials and encour­age them to help us make this goal a real­ity! Time is short. Elec­tions will be here again before we know it, so help us spread the word!
